Lighting Systems
Aviation lighting is a core NLS specialism. NLS Power supplies airfield ground lighting, obstruction lighting, high mast and flood lighting, industrial highbay, street, emergency and explosion proof lighting, plus lighting control and solar street lighting for Saudi projects.
Lighting splits into two very different procurement problems. Most of it is a performance question: the right light level, uniformity and glare control for the task, delivered efficiently and surviving the environment. A smaller part is a compliance question, where the specification comes from a regulator and there is no room to substitute.
Aviation lighting sits firmly in the second category, and it is where NLS has genuine depth. Airfield ground lighting runs as a system, with series circuits fed by constant current regulators and isolating transformers at each fitting so a single lamp failure does not lose the circuit. Colour, intensity and spacing follow ICAO Annex 14 as applied by GACA. Obstruction lighting applies to any structure or crane penetrating the obstacle limitation surfaces around an aerodrome, with low, medium or high intensity units selected by height and location. NLS supplies aviation infrastructure work across Saudi Arabia.
Industrial and outdoor lighting is where the environment does the damage. Saudi conditions mean heat and dust, and both shorten LED driver life more than the lamp itself. Ingress protection, thermal design and driver quality decide whether a fitting lasts its rated hours or fails in the third summer.
Hazardous areas need ATEX or IECEx certified fittings matched to the zone and gas group, not a rugged looking general purpose luminaire.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply airfield and obstruction lighting?+
Yes, this is a core NLS specialism, supplied to ICAO Annex 14 as applied by GACA, covering runway and taxiway fittings, isolating transformers, constant current regulators and obstacle lights for tall structures and cranes.
Why do LED fittings fail early in Saudi conditions?+
Usually the driver rather than the LED. Heat and dust raise operating temperature, and a fitting with weak thermal design or a low grade driver will not reach its rated hours. Ingress protection and driver quality are worth specifying.
Can you supply lighting for hazardous areas?+
Yes. Explosion proof luminaires are supplied with ATEX or IECEx certification matched to the zone classification and gas group stated in the project documents.
