Hotels have an unusual electrical profile: heavy continuous cooling load, guest facing reliability expectations, and a life safety package that must pass inspection before a single room is sold.

Occupancy swing is the first design trap. A property that runs at moderate load most of the year fills completely during peak season, and in cities tied to religious tourism that swing is extreme. The electrical system has to hold at peak, including full cooling, so transformer and generator sizing follows the peak rather than the annual average. Undersizing here is discovered on the worst possible night.

Guest experience sets the reliability bar. Lifts, lighting in circulation areas, the property management system, payment terminals and the kitchen cold chain all have to survive a supply interruption. That usually means a standby generator with automatic transfer, plus UPS on the systems that cannot tolerate even a short break.

Fire and life safety is the gate to opening. Detection, alarm, sprinklers, fire pumps and emergency and exit lighting all sit inside the Civil Defence approval package, and an opening date tied to a season is not one anyone wants to move.

EV charging is now a guest expectation in the parking structure, and load management keeps it from forcing an upgrade of the incoming supply.
