Industrial Plants

NLS Power supplies industrial facilities across Saudi Arabia: MV and LV switchgear, motor control centres, transformers and package substations, explosion proof lighting, harmonic filters and power factor correction, standby generation and fire protection built for continuous process operation.

Industrial electrical procurement is judged on uptime. A plant loses money by the hour when a process stops, so equipment selection weighs reliability, spares availability and repairability alongside price in a way commercial building work rarely does.

Motor loads dominate the picture. Motor control centres have to handle starting currents and duty cycles that a general purpose board would not survive, and variable speed drives that improve process control also inject harmonic distortion back into the system. Left alone, that distortion overheats transformers, trips protection and can put a facility outside IEEE 519 limits. Harmonic filters and power quality analysers are the fix, and they belong in the original procurement rather than a later remedial project.

Power factor is a direct cost. SEC applies penalties for poor power factor, and correction equipment usually pays for itself faster than any other electrical upgrade in a motor heavy plant.

Hazardous areas add another layer. Where flammable atmospheres exist, lighting, junction boxes and control gear need ATEX or IECEx certification matched to the zone and gas group, and substituting a rugged looking general purpose fitting is a safety failure, not a saving.

NLS Power supplies MV and LV switchgear, motor control centres, dry type and oil immersed transformers, package and unit substations, explosion proof and high mast lighting, harmonic filters, PFC banks and voltage stabilisers, diesel generators with transfer switching, UPS and DC systems for control loads, and fire protection including pumps, detection and suppression. NLS has delivered cable packages into a Saudi Aramco NGL project under exactly this kind of industrial procurement discipline.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do we fix power factor penalties on the SEC bill?+

Power factor correction banks, sized against the actual load profile, raise the power factor above the penalty threshold. In motor heavy plants the equipment often pays back faster than any other electrical improvement.

What causes harmonic problems in a plant?+

Non linear loads, mainly variable speed drives and rectifiers, draw current in pulses rather than smoothly. That distortion overheats transformers and neutral conductors and can breach IEEE 519 limits. Harmonic filters address it at source.

Do you supply equipment matched to an existing installation?+

Yes, where the existing make and rating can be identified from a nameplate or datasheet. Where the original is discontinued, an equivalent is offered with the differences stated.
